Fluid

April 27, 2009

While this was not the first time little Evelyn has spit-up during our many feeding lessons, this was perhaps the most comical. Barb was feeding her last night around 4:00 and all was going well (as it usually does) until the end of the bottle. Evelyn had another blow-out, spit-up everywhere, on the chair, on Mom, in her ears, up her nose, and mostly caked around her neck. I decided it would be best to just throw her in the tub for a rinse, and wouldn’t you geuss that in the 30 seconds between diaper dismount and the tub she decided to relieve herself all over Dad’s leg as well as the dogs head. Mesa is always near when there is a baby at smell level. Anyway, pretty funny because it was at 4:00 p.m. and not 4:00 a.m.

My Mom emailed me this photo of when I was 1 month old. We had Evelyn’s photos taken at the same age…..Kinda scary

Put your back into it

April 27, 2009

Well, she continues to grow every day. Barb and I get Evelyn this “Bumbo” chair to help her neck and back get stronger as she prepares to start crawling and learning to sit up straight. You will also notice from the photo below her new ability to SMILE!

My 2 daughters

March 21, 2009

We had some friends over last weekend for a beautifully warm St. Patricks day. We decided to dress Evelyn up for the occasion as she can actually fill out some of her clothes now. Anyway, I snapped a picture of my 2 little girls behaving for once!

Dadurday

March 21, 2009

The weekend as I know it has changed. What once was filled with sleeping in and going to happy hour, is now consumed with a little girl. This isn’t all bad. It may seem that you are missing out on fun, but in reality hanging out with your new family is more fun than any happy hour could ever be.

Below is a photo of how my Saturday shaped up last week. Trying to get my only weekly chore done with a fussy Daughter….Somehow this combination killed 2 birds with one stone. Clean house and sleeping baby.

Ahhhh, the sleeplessness of Fatherhood. For all of the people that told me it would be difficult and tiring, I now understand.

This whole thing started on Feb 17th at about 8:00 in the morning. We packed up the car and headed for the hospital for our scheduled induction. Upon arrival we were escorted to our “luxury” labor and delivery suite. Actually pretty nice, but I had the immediate thought of “thank god I won’t have to sleep in this room”. Little did I know that not only would I be sleeping in that room, but my wife would endure about 36 hours of labor before having a c-section and spending 5 long days in the hospital.

We went into the Operating room around 6:30 on Wednesday night for a routine procedure to delivery our baby and have a birthday celebration…nothing could have been further from the truth. Everything started out like normal, we were jamming to a song from the Top Gun sound track, holding each others hands, and preparing to meet our daughter in mere moments. The team of Doctors pulled the little one out at 7:03 and promptly put her on a table to clean her up, I went over to meet her while they were finishing up on Barb, and then decided to quickly get back over to her to make sure she was comfy and to tell her how beautiful daughter was, and then Beeeeeeeeppppppp…….

Barb had quit breathing and was loosing alot of blood. They quickly got me out of the operating room and brought me to a dark room without a daughter or a wife! Then in came our little one with one of the nurses, we then went to the nursery and examinated the new arrival. To say the least I was going through the broadest range of emotions one can have, new Dad, to is my Wife okay?

Finally I got a visit from 2 of the doctors in the nursery, niether of which could tell me what was going on or if she was alright. This was troublesome. Finally after about an hour of the strangest gammet of emotions they told me that Barb was recovering and we could bring the baby in to see her. Without to much medical jargon, she got some air in her lungs from the outside world while open and her body kinda “shut off”.

All is well that ends well as they say, so without further ado, I introduce you to Evelyn Pearl Lindvall. Born at 7:03 on February 18th, she weighed 6.8 lbs (I won the bet on this by the way) and measured a gigantic 21.25″ in length, tall and skinny like her Pop.

Induction Interduction

February 16, 2009

Well the due date has come and gone. We will be going to the Hospital tomorrow morning for a scheduled induction, and hopefully an interduction to the new life outside the womb. I thoght I would post a picture of the baby in pre-world mode. Hopefully more to come. Enjoy.

She has her Fathers nose already. Hopefully the rest of her resembles her Mother!

Making a baby

Here we go. I woke up this morning and was thinking about a way to share the joy that we are about to receive with the rest of the world! Well, primarily family I guess. Anyway, today is Valentines day, our original due date and we are still waiting for now but the light is at the end of the tunnel. Here is a few pictures of my lovely wife carrying our little Girl!
